What Is Respite Care?
Family Care for Children & Youth, Inc. believes in the importance of children placed in our care having a back-up home. This back-up home would provide short-term care in the event of a family emergency.
Sometimes families experience an event, planned or unplanned, that may require the need for short-term foster care, also known as Respite Care. Respite Care may be an option when a family is going through a particular challenge, such as deployment, illness or death of a loved one. Respite Care can provide safety and stability for children while the family works through their needs. Family Care for Children & Youth, Inc. Can:
- Provide short-term care with a foster family
- Help caregivers and family members plan for the future
- Minimize the trauma associated with fast and/or unexpected life changes
- Transition a child into one of our other foster care programs
- Provide Respite Care services to children already in the care of Family Care for Children & Youth, Inc., or another agency, or children that are not in foster care, but involved with other services.Â

At Family Care for Children & Youth, Inc. we offer respite services under our umbrella of foster care services in Pennsylvania. We can provide short-term respite foster care in the event that a child needs to periodically stay with a foster family during weekends, holidays, or for other short spans of time. Respite Care is an ideal arrangement for a child that needs a break from their group home, institution, or biological/legal family situation. Respite Care guarantees that children have a safe place to stay with a caring family who can provide all the love and attention they need.
