Steps To Complete Before Becoming A Foster Parent
1. Fill Out a Demographic Survey
Before you begin any training, you must complete this demographics resource form from the University of Pittsburgh, School Of Social Work.
Once you have completed this basic demographic survey, you can begin training.
2. Complete Required Training
Next, visit http://www.pacwrc.pitt.edu/ to complete trainings related to foster parenting in Pennsylvania.

Who Can Become A Foster Parent In Pennsylvania?
As a reminder, you must meet state eligibility criteria before being approved as a foster family.
To become a foster family in Pennsylvania, you and/or your partner must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Pass an extensive background check
- Demonstrate financial stability
- Pass a home inspection
- Show the ability to provide for a child and meet any specific needs a child has
- Show emotional and physical health
